Depression and insecurity

Hi there my name is Diana! I have a problem normally before this I had negative thinking but it doesn't interfere in my job or things I do lately. It all began when I lost my father 3 years ago. It exploded in more negative thinking and an obsession with my weight, I'm not anorexic or anything but what can I do? I lost like 10 pounds in months without deciding it and my sleep is bad too.

I leave this depression when I began to work and continue my master in occupational therapy but now I have fallen again... my family is worried now because I looked so skinny and all because the comments of people about me affect me so much. Can you give me advice... thanks!

PD: I'm the skinny girl lol

Depression and Insecurity
by: Kay

Thank you for contacting Positive Personal Growth. You seem a happy person! Having said that of course, you wouldn't have written if you didn't have a problem. I am not sure of what size you are or what the average size is for your age and height. I feel it's important to always eat healthy food, this is the answer to being a healthy person.

Negative comments will affect you if you let them, and this is the important thing 'if you let them.' When you react to a negative statement, you have a problem, however if you can refuse to take to heart what has been said, then you have not caused a negative reaction inside your mind. The thoughts you have create your reality, and only you choose your thoughts. Make them positive ones!

I am uncertain whether you are happy with your weight, but providing you eat healthy meals with lots of fruit and vegetables, you should not be losing weight, unless of course you were grossly overweight a few years ago, and are still getting down to your ideal weight.

If you are eating healthily however, and are concerned because of still losing weight, go and have a chat with your doctor just to put your family's mind at rest. They love you and want what's best for you!

Love
Kay
